1907 Census Index
In 1907 President Theodore Roosevelt ordered that a census be taken in the Territories which were slated to become the state of Oklahoma. This was a “down and dirty” census just counting population to determine the number of Representatives the new state would have.
Only the names of the individuals were recorded. Only one complete set of census records survived, this was for Seminole county. However, the census for the city of Okmulgee survived and a copy is in the hand of the OCGS.
This index can be searched to help determine if your ancestor arrived and was living in the city of Okmulgee before statehood.
